Betsy Fischer, MSW, LCSW
Betsy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist who serves Village Counseling Center (VCC) clients as a subcontracted provider through Rocky Creek Farm Equestrian Services. An entrepreneur and the founder and owner of Rocky Creek Farm, Betsy transitioned from years as a core outpatient therapist at VCC’s Gainesville practice to establish a specialized, farm-based therapeutic environment. Eagala-trained in ground-based equine-assisted psychotherapy, she partners with VCC to continue treating children, adolescents, and families coping with extensive trauma, physical and sexual abuse, and neglect. Through this collaborative partnership, Betsy continues her dedicated service to VCC trauma clients—including children referred through child welfare and specialized trauma grants—harnessing experiential equine therapy to rebuild attachment, emotional regulation, and relational trust.
Betsy first joined Village Counseling Center in 2004, providing comprehensive behavioral assessments, individual and family psychotherapy within VCC’s Sexual Abuse Prevention and Adoption Success programs. Her clinical career spans over three decades of trauma-informed care across Florida and Colorado, including early shelter-based crisis counseling for survivors of domestic violence, school- and home-based play therapy with Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, and eight years as a pediatric and family grief counselor with Hospice of North Central Florida. She earned her Master of Social Work from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder, and has been licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Florida since 2004. Formally trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), adoption competency, and the neurodevelopmental impacts of abuse, Betsy combines decades of clinical insight with innovative equine-assisted techniques to foster lasting resilience and healing for vulnerable youth and families.
