Founded in 2004, Village Counseling Center is a premier private mental health agency offering specialized, trauma-informed care for children, adolescents, adults, and their families. As one of the most respected agencies in North Florida, we are a trusted referral source for many community agencies including UF Health Child Psychiatry & Pediatrics, Partnership for Strong Families, Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and Alachua County Public Schools. Our contract and private-pay model allows us to provide the highest level of confidential, personalized care, free from the restrictions often imposed by insurance companies.

The Village Counseling Center Difference

Our clinical team holds nearly 300 years of combined service strictly to this practice. This exceptional longevity ensures that you are supported by a consistent, dedicated team that is deeply rooted in this work and our community.

Our clinicians have successfully helped thousands of individuals and families transcend the devastating impact of childhood trauma. Our team utilizes only evidence-based treatment (EBT) approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitize and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and adheres to a resiliency-based model focused on developing each client’s strengths, needs, and support system.

Our Core Programs
Our primary programs—the Sexual Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Program, the Trauma-Focused Occupational Therapy Program, and the Trauma Recovery Program for Youth and Families—are widely recognized for their pioneering services. We are leaders in North and Central Florida in the provision of specialized services for trauma survivors.

Our clinicians have extensive experience treating children and adolescents who have suffered physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, as well as those who exhibit sexual behavior problems. We are dedicated to helping every client pursue a safe, healthy, and meaningful life.

Our strong, long-standing partnerships with these organizations are a testament to our team’s clinical excellence and our reputation for providing specialized, effective care. We are honored to be a resource for these agencies, working together to serve our community’s most vulnerable populations.

Public and State Agencies:
We work with Partnership for Strong Families (PSF), Public Defenders Office, Guardian ad Litem Program, Office of the State Attorney, and the University of Florida Child Protection Team (CPT).

Child Advocacy & Law Enforcement:
We collaborate with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), and Gainesville Police Department (GPD).

Healthcare and Education:
Our network includes UF Health—Child Psychiatric and Pediatric Departments, Alachua County Public Schools & System of Care, and Meridian Behavioral Healthcare.

Community and Family Services:
We collaborate with the SWAG Neighborhood Resource Center, Peaceful Paths Domestic Abuse Network and Community Foundation of North Central Florida (CFNCF).
