Allyson is a Senior Clinician and Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Village Counseling Center (VCC), where she has been a foundational member of the clinical team since 2004. With more than 25 years of behavioral health experience, she specializes in helping children, adolescents, and families overcome the complex harms of extensive trauma, neglect, and abuse. Her clinical practice focuses on individual and family psychotherapy for youth impacted by physical and sexual abuse, including specialized treatment for children exhibiting sexually reactive behaviors stemming from severe trauma. A central component of her work at VCC includes delivering focused interventions through the Sexual Abuse Prevention Treatment Program and conducting comprehensive Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessments (CBHA) for children referred by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Partnership for Strong Families (PSF). These in-depth assessments examine emotional, social, behavioral, family, and community functioning to guide critical child welfare decisions and shape individualized treatment plans.
Allyson earned both her Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) and Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida, having also completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at UF. Before joining VCC, she developed a strong acute-care and community mental health foundation at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, first serving as an emergency screener conducting urgent intake evaluations for psychiatric inpatient admissions, and later as a therapist in the Children’s Outpatient Therapy Program. In these roles, she provided outpatient psychotherapy and behavioral assessments for children and teens facing ADHD, depression, profound family conflict, and abuse-related trauma. Licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in Florida since 2001 with early crisis-intervention training through the Alachua County Crisis Center, Allyson brings over two decades of clinical dedication at VCC, pairing rigorous diagnostic evaluation with compassionate, trauma-informed therapy to help vulnerable children and families restore safety, stability, and resilience.
