VCC is a private mental health agency offering a comprehensive array of mental health services to adults, children, adolescents and their families.

Founded in 2004, the Village Counseling Center (VCC) in Gainesville, Florida provides services in over 16 counties in North Florida including Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Gilchrist, Levy, Suwannee and Duval County. The Village Counseling Center is regarded as one of the premiere agencies in North Florida for assessing and treating children, adolescents and young adults for issues related to sexual abuse, trauma and adoption with specialized services for both victims and family members. We accept private referrals as well as clients through various contracts with many agencies including the Department of Children and Families, Partnership for Strong Families and Alachua County Public Schools.

The Village Counseling Center’s primary programs, the Sexual Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Program, Trauma-Focused Occupational Therapy Program and Trauma Recovery Program for Youth and Families are known for providing pioneering services and are leaders in North and Central Florida in the provision of specialized services for children and adolescents. VCC clinicians have evaluated and successfully treated thousands of children and adolescents who have suffered physical, sexual and emotional abuse as well as children and adolescents who exhibit sexual behavior problems. We aim to help youth and families transcend the trauma of childhood abuse, learn appropriate behavior and pursue safe, healthy and meaningful lives.

Since opening, VCC staff have always been strong advocates for underserved children and families.  VCC clinicians have treated thousands of children either from underserved schools, who reside in foster care or those unable to access specialized mental health services, including over 750 children in 2022.

All outpatient services are provided by specialized, LICENSED mental health professionals and are adapted to meet the unique needs of each child and family. We only use evidenced-based treatment (EBT) approaches and adhere to a resiliency-based model based on developing each client’s strengths, needs and support system.
